Welcome to Money Mondays!

(If you are not reading this post at www.howisavemoney.net or in your feed reader, it may have been stolen from my site.)

I used to post my financial inflows and outflows on Fridays in the past but I decided to move this to Mondays instead. I normally go grocery shopping on Sundays after church. I will now post the last week’s worth of financial inflows and outflows on Monday so that I can include the weekend spending as well.

This week my financial outflows were:

$81.50 for the electric bill! Yes this is high but we have been having temperatures over 100 quite frequently out here. It is just very uncomfortable to be in the house without having the air conditioner running since the fans only move the hot air very slightly.

$36 for my portion of the shared phone bill. It is usually $37 so I don’t know what happened with the extra dollar but I will take it!

There was a random increase in the bill for my rent when I logged in to pay. The difference was $23 and there was no explanation of what that was. I emailed the office to let them know it needed to be fixed so I was waiting on that change to pay rent. They called back and it turns out I had mixed up the pages of the old lease with the new lease and was looking at only the charge page (which had the wrong date but I did not notice!!!). The $23 increase is actually valid since that is a the renewal that I signed so I now have to factor that into my zero based budget. Luckily the total rent amount is still very low and the increase is not a deal breaker.

$29.98 on two pairs of jeans during the tax free weekend sales. The jeans were originally $44 each but were on sale for $24.99. I had a coupon for $20 off a $50 purchase, making my purchase $38 for the two or effectively $14.99 each!!

This week my financial inflows were:

I received a check for $1.73 for a class settlement from a long time ago. I honestly could not even remember when I agreed to be part of that class action but hey I will take every extra dollar I can get!
