Every Friday I post about my finances for the week in an effort to monitor my income and expenses. I used to post all of the actual figures but I have recently decided to stop doing this.

I will now post SOME of my actual expenses and leave the rest to your imagination. All income and expenses are recorded in Mint and any amounts are rolled over into the next month.

This week my expenses were:

$19.99 on bath bombs. I have mentioned a few times how stressful it is while I complete my PhD and I have recently gotten into soaking in the tub as a way to reduce my stress.

Yes, I know that is a lot but it is crafted into the budget and just means I have less to spend on something else. I could really take them out of the ‘fun stuff’ account since there is enough money in there to cover the purchase. As you know, I have a few different sub accounts that are funded by the monthly budget. Some of those accounts are:

-Car repairs

-Emergency fund

-Fun stuff

When an issue comes up, I first use up the money in the named sub-account to cover the purchase because that money has already accumulated from prior months. I then take any extra from the current month’s budget if I need to. In this case the bath bombs could come out of that account and I will simply transfer the amount from the fun stuff account to my main checking to cover the purchase.

The bath bombs were actually $21.99 initially and reduced to $19.99 after I had them in my shopping cart for a few days so I decided to snatch them up at the lower price.

I spent $24.67 on other household items, including more cat litter for the abominable monster who allows me to rub her belly sometimes.

I spent $35.87 on food but did not include any fruits or vegetables, so I will need to make another shopping trip to get those items next week.

I had a vet bill of $42.01 to take the monster to get her rabies shots.
