How NOT to move to a new Apartment

September 10, 2007 by LuluGal in Daily life with 5 Comments

So things have been super crazy with me for the last few days. I just got a new job and I am still in the process of moving. Here is what had been happening over the last few days. I got the job on a Friday and had to report for training and workshops on Monday of the following week.

How NOT to move to a new ApartmentThis meant that I had to drive three and a half hours out of town so that I could be there on time. Well I really was not up for getting up early and starting to drive at five in the morning every day and then driving back up so I had a friend go with me to look for a place.

We looked and looked for hours but could not find anything that *ahem* fit my standards. I finally found a place that I liked but they told me they could not have a place ready for me until September 28th. Now this is one month and two weeks away and I have to be at orientation the next week.

I went ahead and placed a hold on the apartment and went off to look for a storage place. Yeah…there is a U-Haul storage right across the street from the place where I will be staying. Ok, things are starting to look a little better now. I gather all my friends and we have a packing party and get everything ready to move down.

I got a friend who lived in the area to stay with for a couple of weeks so that helped out my situation a bit. My other choice would have been to stay in a hotel for the entire time and you KNOW how costly that would be.

How NOT to move to a new ApartmentTwo weeks go by and I am starting to feel the burn from living out of a suitcase in a small space. I am on my way to a training session when I get a phone call from the complex. They said the people who were in the apartment where I was waiting decided to move out early because they got another place early. This means that my apartment is now ready.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Wow. What a relief as I can now move into my new space and not be cramped up any more. The bad thing is that I have already paid for storage for the month and my friends were not planning on coming back down to help until the end of the month.

So I have moved into the new place………….and I am still living out of the suitcase basically.

I had a few roundabout dealings with the electricity company and the cable company….and who knows where my mail is going to right now. I had my mail forwarded to Honey’s address since I was supposed to be in between places for a month. I have received two pieces of mail at my new address so I am assuming the rest of my mail is still going to him. I just an address change done but I think the post office is confused now with the dates changing.

Wow….that was quite an adventure.

Well Saving Diva….it is not so much getting it early as just getting it after all of the hassle. I still have my stuff in storage so the journey is still not over.
