Welcome to How I Save Money and tracking of income and expenses for the month.
Income for the month to date: $94.47
Expenses for the month to date: $1762.35
Net effect: -$1667.88
I got a $5.00 gift card to WalMart AGAIN from my insurance benefits. I tell you that if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance you NEED to look up the site to see if you can enroll in the Blue Points program. By just answering a few questions or logging simple things like how many glasses of water you drink you can earn points and then get FREE stuff.
I am keeping the $5.00 to go grocery shopping but this is like a snowflake of income that allows me to have more money to myself.
I log my water and small things like parking further away from my normal spot at work so I can walk. The items are already set up for each day on the site so all you have to do is click the ones you did for the day.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
Sounds like a nice easy way to get free stuff, although remember, nothing is FREE. There is always some catch and even if it requires you to answer some questions now, beware of some sneaky ploy they may try in the future.
Craig
Well Craig it is FREE in the sense that I did not pay any money to get it.
Of course it costs in terms of the 5 or so minutes I took to log my cups of water and physical activity for the day….but since the post is about my finances for the day then the card is Free. 🙂
Good idea on tracking the outgoing vs the incoming and writing about it. I would imagine it gets others to look at their own finances and find ways to get the outgoing lower. As for us, it’s credit card debt that’s killing us. 29.99% interest rate. Gotta get that lowered somehow…
@ Kurt
Call the company every month and ask. Keep checking their website for special offers as well.
You might also try Lending Club (email me for a referral link) to get a loan with a lower rate so you can consolidate it. I had a card that was at 21% and got a loan from LC at 9% so I used that to pay off the card and I now pay a lower interest rate to LC.
