There was a time when I was in really bad place financially and did not know how I would be able to afford my bills. I was a student and had mountains of student loans and was only making minimum wage and working 20 hours a week while going to school full time (21 credit hours).
Sell Plasma
A friend of mine turned me on to selling plasma and I became hooked. I would faithfully go to the plasma center twice and week and let them poke my veins. I was only allowed to give the smallest donation, which paid $15 one time and then $20 at the next visit.
Donating plasma required me to lie down on the bed for about one hour because I have really small viens and they had to use the smallest needle. Everyone else would be done in about 30 minutes but I would still be trucking along sometimes for as long as 70 minutes.
I soon got sick because of this and would throw up or pass out but I needed the money so I kept going. I tried to go twice a week because you got a bonus for doing that…but I soon would feel so sick that I could only go once a week.
At one point in time I was actually put on restriction for 6 weeks because my vein had become weak and they did not want to cause me any more damage. I was actually upset at missing out on six weeks of getting paid..but it was for my own good.
Now that I look back on it I don’t think I would do it again but at that time I was REALLY desperate for cash. I did what I had to do at the time to survive and I am glad I made it through.
Glad you survived. I perceived this to be one of the lowest points of your life but worth reminiscing. Indeed, when you’re at the height of success, it’s nice to look back.
