I have not saved enough for retirement and that is a very depressing thought. I recently saw some updated estimates that said in order to have a comfortable retirement it was recommended that I have the equivalent of at least one year of current salary in savings for retirement.
Even at my current salary as a graduate student I have not saved enough for retirement. This is a sobering thought as it means I am way behind on the level of savings that I should have at this point in my life. I means that when I finally graduate and get a good job I will have to really hustle to get the savings in so that I can have enough to work on a comfortable retirement plan.
The fact that I have not saved enough for retirement is a bit daunting now and I will have to make the trade off between living a more comfortable life when working full time and preparing for a life of retirement with little to no income.
