We had Spring Break a couple of weeks ago and since I decided to stay at home I had a wonderful days of no spending.
I ate a lot of cold meals (sandwiches and stuff like that) and did not drive or have to iron. This translated into no items being put on my credit cards and would have been a really no spend week IF not for the increased electricity use.
I had the computer on most of the day since I was having marathon movie and show watching sessions so I know this racked up a few dollars in the electricity bill.
It felt good to not see any transactions to download into Money for a few days and almost made me feel good about doing nothing all day.
I did go out on the weekend after Spring Break, resulting in $8.52 to fill up my gas tank and about $20 to get drinks to bring to the party….but it was worth it.
Wow! $8.52 to fill up your tank? How on earth did you do that? Driving a moped? lol Since my son went to live with his mom 2 years ago, spring break has gotten a lot cheaper for me as well. Similar deal… lots of movies on TV w/ laptop on coffee table surfing the web.
First time here. Nice blog. Will definitely be back..
/bookmark favorite.
Oh I was around a half tank I think, not completely empty. 🙂
I wish I could say I saved a lot on spring break, but we took a trip to San Diego. It was great though. Our friends hooked us up with a great deal at the hotel they work at, and we were able to get discount tickets to San Diego zoo at the navy base.
Even half a tank for around $9.00 is pretty good. What do you drive?
Mitsubishi Lancer. I ‘heart’ Mitsubishi.
I love staying home. It’s comfortable, familiar and relaxing. My favorite activity is staying in and reading or, like you did, watch TV shows online. The little bit of electric costs is an acceptable alternative to all the direct and indirect costs of going out.
