Here is one extreme step you can take to getting rid of your debt.
You can cut up all of your credit cards and then make a picture out of the shreds like this couple did.
I thought this was funny but if it works for them then that is what they need to do.? I just put my cards away and I made a vow not to use them. I did not freeze them or cut them up or put them in a really inconvenient place.
I just have them all in an old wallet and they are not being touched.
What extreme methods do you use to prevent yourself from incurring new debt on your credit cards?
At one point I had to cut them all up and throw them away…. but now we use them and pay off the balance every month… I applaud people who take the steps to stop using credit cards when they shouldn’t be using them and if you can make a pretty picture at the same time.. that’s great! 🙂 … I wonder if they will hang it above their couch? 🙂
Kimberly, it would really be fun to see if they frame it and keep it forever.
Good job on keeping your card at a zero balance.
I never had a revolving balance on any of my credit cards, so I can’t tell you what I’d do. However, I did cancel all the credit cards that I didn’t use a few years ago. I kept only the card with the gas reward.
Hey rstlne, that is a good idea. While your credit score takes a hit from closing the cards, it is only temporary and if it means that you are better at managing a smaller number of cards then it makes your score go up in the future.
