The title represents someone I was speaking to recently and I think this is very sad. There is a family with a small child and the state of their finances goes like this”
- No savings
- Huge debt
- No budget
- Irregular income
The husband works from home as a private consultant but is very lax about collecting debts that are owed to him. He extends credit to his customers who usually take months to pay him back, always claiming that they do not have any money.
The wife works for a steady paycheck but her income is not enough to support the family on its own. She is distraught about the family finances, especially since she found out that the mortgage had been in arrears for a couple of months.
I have tried to talk to this person but he does not seem to want anyone to help him. Oh well, you win some you lose some.
That is sad to bad he isn’t thinking about his kid. The least he could do if he is letting the mortgage go into arrears is to look into the government short sale program that sells your house and eliminates the remainder of the debt. I don’t know much about it but it worked great for my friend.
It’s almost like alcoholism and a person has to decide to change themselves. It’s almost impossible to convince someone. I have watched my kids go through these same struggles and talked and talked and talked. It does no good.
