Hi everyone and welcome to How I Save Money!
In keeping with the transportation theme this month from the Wealth, Money and Life Network I have decided to make this contest fit the topic of gas that is on everyone’s mind.
I recently got a $20 gas card from one of my credit card companies for signing up for one of their credit protection plans. I cancelled it in time but I got the gift card anyway so it was like getting the card for free.
Gas prices are on the rise and don’t seem to be going down any time soon. As a result I thought it would be nice for someone to win a gas card for free gas!!!! I will be giving away a $10 gas card so if you think that it would be nice to get some free gas all you have to do is enter the giveaway.
Rules:
- Write a short post on how high gas prices have affected you and link back to this post.
- Subscribe to my feed (and let me know).
- Link back to this post from your blog, highlighting the contest.
You just earned yourself one entry for each action and I will then draw from all the entrants. I will use a random number generator to pick a winner and announce the winner on July 15 as part of my Birthday Giveaway!!!
Sounds like a fun idea. Gas cards really are a great idea when you can get them.
Too bad it wasn’t denominated in gallons. It would be worth more each day! 🙂
Best Wishes,
D4L
Sounds like fun. My article has been posted and I just subscribed to your feed!

@ D4L:
If the card had been in gallons I think I might have kept the entire thing for myself!! ha ha
@ Passive:
Got your entries noted.
I subscribed to your feed and posted my blog entry over on my site 🙂
A gas card as a prize is very attractive for those who have a car. To bad I don’t.
Where I live isn’t a very walkable community, so I pretty much have to drive everywhere. I use gas coupons (from sale flyers, on the back of grocery receipts, etc.) to help a little. They usually range from $.03-$.10 off per gallon. I’d love to win this gas card!
Tiffanie 3 entries, Kelli 1 entry.
Thanks guys, I’ve got you down.
I run all my errands on one day per week, group them together and then if I don’t get some done I wait until the next week. I put $30 of gas in the car it has to last two weeks after that I ride a bike or walk. I fill up on Wed AM as this is the best price for gas for the week overall, I check the sites to get the best price in my area on gas as well.
Thanks for the comment on my blog!
I just wanted to clarify that my “fun money” budget is really a miscellaneous envelope. If I don’t know where to take money from it comes from there, everything from movie tickets to birth control (for my wife :-P). I guess the label is a misnomer!
Great contest by the way! I’d enter but I think some people need it more then I do.
The gas prices have affected how many errands I run. I try to group them together and go once a week. I’d love to win the gas card!!
I also try to only go out once a week, or try to run out when there is a doctors appointment, etc.
I personally think it’s a good thing. Higher oil prices, mean that people use their cars less and this helps the environment. We need to lose our independence on oil!
That sounds great LuLu! Don’t we have any promo like this now? maybe for a valentine giveaway…lol!
Gas prices have kept our family separated. My husband is stationed in MD and our family lives in TX and CO. I have not been able to travel back home to see my family in over a year, and with my grandparents getting older it is very sad for us. Our children miss their cousins and we feel like we are missing out on the lives of our family. We thought we would be able to drive home once a year, but so far we have not been able to afford it.
