Welcome to tracking of income and expenses for the month. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $6.53
Expenses for the month to date: $1292.90
Net effect: -$1286.37
Since the last posting I renewed my car’s inspection sticker and this came out of the Car Maintenance Fund in ING where I send money every month as part of my Zero Based Budget. The inspection itself cost $12.50 but there was an additional charge of $27.25 for an emissions test. I guess my car is showing its age now since they did this test and I have never had it done before.
I spent $15.43 at Chipotle for two meals as I needed to thank my friend for picking me up at the airport. I am going to be spending a lot more on food for the month as the cupboards are almost bare because I tried to eat everything before I took my vacation.
I have revised and simplified the budget quite a bit since I first started this blog but there are still many more tweaks to come as I have to pay for classes and pay off debts. I hope you will continue on this debt reduction trip with me and I can finally be free of debt.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
It’s always interesting to see how other people manage their money, thanks for publishing the details.
I will most certainly keep reading your blog, it is very useful and interesting. Thank you!
Great advice “don’t spend more than what you get”, every month i usually plan a budget lesser than what I get, but its always end more than the budget, in my case money management is more important.
