Welcome to tracking of income and expenses for the month. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $58.39
Expenses for the month to date: $3612.86
Net effect: -$3554.47
Since the last posting I actually got paid because yesterday was the last day of work as we on Christmas break. I opted not to enter that transaction as yet because we normally get paid on the last day of work and I do not want to mess up my accounting flow.
The visit to the dentist to remove my wisdom teeth cost me $580.27 out of pocket as opposed to the $1430 I was quoted earlier. I put that amount on the GE money bank card which is the card that I used to pay for my LASIK and which I just recently fully paid off before the deadline.
I have the money to pay for it in full right now but I was able to get a 12 month 0% interest rate on the card so I decided it was better to do that and pay off the card during the time period. This will free up my money so that I can snowflake payments to the other credit card that I am carrying a balance on and which has a higher interest rate.
My calculations show that I would need to pay $49 a month to pay off the card in 12 months before the 0% interest ends. I had already budgeted $70 a month based on the $1430 quote so it works out really well. I will simply go into my ING account and get the payments set up to out and will be paying this card twice a month so that I do not have to worry about the due dates.
A big part of this was that the oral surgeon decided the tooth on the right did not need to be removed because they were not even sure if it was a wisdom tooth.
The most expensive part of the bill was the cost for the anesthesia and the surgery only lasted 30 minutes so it was bit of an eye opener. Maybe I should become an anesthesiologist!!!!
I also spent $22 on four different prescriptions for painkillers, antibiotics and anti-nausea medicines. I am doing okay for now…slept a lot yesterday and I am just slow and weak from all the strong painkillers…but since I am on vacation now it is okay.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
