I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $65.45
Expenses for the month to date: $2293.90
Net effect: -$2228.45
Since the last posting I received a $10 Walmart gift card from redeeming some points so that is being added to the grocery budget for the month. I also got $3.68 from Lending Club loans that have been repaid and I am very grateful for the people who are repaying their loans.
I redeemed $11.25 in coupons, bringing my total redemption for the month to $16.69 after only spending $3 on the newspaper for the month. This is an excellent return of $13.69 for the month from the use of coupons.
I spent $52.13 on food this week and this included three boxes of mini quiche and three boxes of crab cakes that I have for breakfast as part of my meal plan for the week. I also got two boxes of strawberries and since one box normally lasts one week then I should not need to buy any strawberries next week.
I bought $19.89 worth of gas because I was at about a quarter tank and was preparing for a trip to visit friends this weekend but I think I might pass on that. I also sent off the second half of the car payment and paid an additional $555 on the last credit card that has a balance. Doing this has caused the payoff date to move up to October 2010, when it was previously at December 2010.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
OK, so you’ve prob. beat this to death – but have you thought about just reporting your weekly income as a prorated income based on your monthly pay?
Yes I have beat it to death…..I am not going to post my monthly salary as weekly cash flow because that would not fit what I am doing here. Also, it let’s me out of posting my exact salary here.
Great way to save some money, added advantage of being really healthy.
Good on you for pushing your credit card settlement date back by two months. That is news worthy of a celebration! one question about the strawbs though. I’ve found them to go off very quickly, even if stored in the fridge. Will they last for two weeks? Good luck until next time!
I just found out that they will not last very well in the fridge for two weeks. I just had to eat about half a box yesterday as they were all mushy. Oh well….lesson learned.
Crab cakes sounds delicious! And congrats on ending your credit payments faster! That’s progress right there!
