I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $514.80
Expenses for the month to date: $2615.03
Net effect: -$2100.23
Since the last posting I spent $48.38 on food for the week and that was mostly some high end Feta cheese, cappucino mix and fruits. One bag of cherries came in at $5.88 and I got two so there went $10 right of the bat. I love cherries and make about three meals from one bag of cherries but they sure are expensive!
I received $3.27 from Prosper and got $6.55 from Lending Club. The only thing I have left to do is to get gas to fill up the tank on Saturday so I can start the next month with a full tank. I will be getting paid later today and have a few snowflake payments going out on Saturday as well but this month will be another month where I come out in the black despite all the little expenses here and there.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
Kinda curious, does your gas last an entire month?
Most times it does…I live about 7 minutes from work and there is a Walmart within two miles so I hardly drive around here. Most months I can make it on one tank!!!! Right now I have most of the month off (perks of teaching) and I have been staying in a lot.
It’s cool to let us know of your financial calculations and even of your hobbies and spending on food. I am definitely sure you will become debt free very soon and would post some updates about your improved situation in here for us to read.
Wow, only 7 minutes from work. Very lucky! I commute almost an hour daily. 🙂 Been thinking about switching to public transport for half of the month till my finances start flowing a bit faster. And I’ve found cherries irresistable from a young age too. Do you like candied cherries too?
Sandy
Maybe you could do more time on online investment like venturing into affiliates or blogging for cash.
That could help leverage your income.
I have only had maraschino cherries and think that they are too sweet, so I have no idea what you mean by candied cherries. I do not really like things that are too sweet so the ones from the fresh fruit section at the grocery store work for me.
Glad that you’re having another month in the black 🙂
What do you do with Prosper?
Prosper is used to make small loans to people, but I am not adding any more money to it as I prefer the returns I am getting with Lending Club.
That is great spendings for the month, keep up the good work. Looking forward to this month as well.
I would say you are very clever with your counting, it’s very impressive, but you doing great, yes in starting days of month situation will be same like you.
I like the way you track your bills. I have just start to track my income and expense, do you use any software?
Yes, as I have mentioned many times before I use Google documents and Mint.com to track my income and expenses.
