Welcome to my daily tracking of income and expenses for the month.

Income for the month to date: $2892.76

Expenses for the month to date: $2992.11

Net effect: -$99.35

Wow this is the first time I have ended the month with such a small negative cash flow. All this means is that I had to go into savings to send off money to bills.

Now before you go shaking your heads and thinking that I overspent I need to clarify this. I took the extra money out of the little savings account so that I could make a ‘big’ payment to one of the credit cards and bring down the debt faster.? I stuck to my spending budget for the month and in fact I was under in most categories.

The extra money went to my Chase? Freedom Visa card which is the only card that I am using for EVERY purchase possible. I am slowly building up the rewards by using that card for all purchases and paying off the balance in full.

I manage that card by setting up payments equal to the amount of the spending as soon as I make a purchase. So when I pay the cable bill then Electric Orange is set up to send a check for the amount of the cable bill off to the credit card company. That way when I do get the bill for the credit card it is very small and it does not even feel like a bill because I have been paying it off in full every month.
