On this trip I paid $0.00 out of pocket for $6.00 worth of items. My goal for 2011 is to not spend any money out of pocket, while using coupons and ECBs to get tons of items at CVS, with an initial gift card of $50.
My total came to $0.01 and I cannot believe that the cashier made me pay the one cent!!! The other cashier just wipes it off if it is one cent but I had a gift card so I just swiped away.

You never cease to amaze me. I can’t believe she made you pay the penny either. What kind of surprises me is that you didn’t just pull one out of your purse you swiped the card. but I guess you are just sticking to the plan.
I don’t carry cash so I would not have had a penny on me in any case. I sometimes find them in the parking lot of Walmart….but I went to CVS before going to WallyWorld that day.
I think the cashier was mad that I was ‘not paying’ for my items so she did it to prove a point. I have seen cashiers force the total to balance even up to four cents so I think a penny would be easy. Usually they use the pennies left on the counter to make up the difference but I guess this cashier wanted to teach me a lesson.
I think she was just mad because you are so savvy and she isn’t> lol.
