How did you end up where you’re living right now? What factors will help you choose the next place you live?
I currently live in a small town about 5 minutes from my workplace. I picked this place because I wanted to live close to work since I have to be at work early in the morning. I found this apartment by going to various online apartment finders and putting in a search for places close to where I work that also offered the features I was looking for. Here are some of the things I wanted in my home:
-two bedrooms
-two bathrooms
-balcony/patio
-second floor apartment
-walk in closet (not those sideways closets)
-close to work
-reasonable price
-good neighborhood
I ended up getting an apartment that was very close to work but did not have a balcony. I did get my two bedrooms and two bathrooms so I was able to live without the balcony as I have the additional space on the inside.
The price was comparable to other apartments in the area so I just ended up picking the nicest looking place. I could have gotten an even bigger apartment for the same price about 30 minutes away but that would mean I would have to get on the highway every day and I do not like having a long commute.
I would use basically the same criteria for my next place although I am hoping that the next time I move it will be into a house/condo and not an apartment.
My aunt lent me her place since she’s working abroad and no one lives here anymore. Im working at home. It’s near the beach and i love it. 🙂
Lucky you!!!!!!
I just had to move from sunny Florida not too long ago and I miss the beach and the blue skys. I am happy where I am now but nothing beats beach living.
I totally agree with your decision to live close to work. Who wants to spend so much of their time driving to and from work each day? It sounds like I am living in the wrong city, because I know I wouldn’t be able to afford a 2-bedroom + 2-bathroom apartment where I live.
It just depends on where you live I agree. I lived in a bigger city once and the 1 bedroom apartment cost more than what a 2 bedroom cost in the college town that I lived in previously.
I recently moved because i wanted a change. I ended up choosing to live in the east part of town. One of the main reasons for this was my morning commute. I did this so I would have the sun at my back when driving to and from work. i had trouble with this on a few occasions, the glare got so bad sometimes, I thought I was going to wreck from not being able to see. I know it sounds lame but my commute is way less stressful now.
I do not think your reason is lame at all. I have had to drive into the sunlight and my eyes are very sensitive so I can understand how this would bother you. My short commute is great for me too although some of my coworkers who also rent think I am crazy because they do not want to live close to work. I say there is no reason for me to be called at home if something happens at work while I am off so I don’t mind it at all.
I live in an apartment. The main factors that I look for are proximity to the workplace and location in peaceful area preferably far from any sort of polluting factory or overcrowded neighborhood.
