I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $96.01
Expenses for the month to date: $2306.24
Net effect: -$2210.23
Since the last posting I spent $48.02 on items for my hair and some lip balms and other personal items. I spent $31.80 on household items including kitty litter and dry food. I also bought some binders for my class and just realized that I should have put them on a separate receipt as I can claim that on my taxes as a teacher. I have been trying to put anything that I get for my classroom on a separate receipt so that when I go for my deductions next year they will not be mixed up with my personal items.
Income for the week was $3.26 from Prosper loans being repaid and $4.91 from my Lending Club loans being repaid. I am currently getting a 6% return on my loans on average according to the stats page from Lending Club so I am still pleased with my investments.
I spent $25.05 on some items for a personal legal document and since I still have about a half tank of gas I did not plan on getting gas until next week.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
So I’ve made it a conscious effort of mine to drive less, so I also have half a tank of gas as well for next week! Happy Savings!
Good for you. Not only are you saving money on gas but that is also better for the environment and your health in the long run.
I’m sure Mother Nature appreciates your efforts too. 😀 I’ve started to use public transport more lately for the same reasons.
Till then,
Jean
I’ve also bought myself a motorcycle to all my running around on, which saves me huge time in traffic, especially during peak hour, and reflects well on the fuel budget. Fuel is a killer. the stuff is way overpriced and really heavily tax burdened by the government in my neck of the woods.
Sounds like you are doing great, hope you can claim the tax back on those items.
Although riding motorcycle is a little bit dangerous in the road, I am forced to buy one to save on gas. more and more motorcycle riders are in the road now, and it’s fun too!
