I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $117.20
Expenses for the month to date: $1555.02
Net effect: -$1437.82
Since the last posting I received a $25 Walmart gift card by redeeming points from MyPoints that I earned from shopping online. I love going to MyPoints first and then navigating to stores I normally shop from online so that I can earn extra rewards and those all go into one of my snowflake accounts or towards supplementing the income for the month. If you are not already a member of MyPoints hit me up for a referral so you can start earning rewards too!!!!
I got $5.58 from Lending Club repayments this week and redeemed $1.54 in coupons as well. I spent $40.25 (including tip!!!!) on a 30 minute massage and it was well worth it. I was very stressed out from everything recently and my shoulders and neck were very tight and I kept getting headaches all the time. I am trying to see how I can work this into my budget so I can at least get one every month or so…..but it depends on how the job search goes.
I was able to redeem another 3000 points for $30 which was deposited to my checking account hopefully I will be able to earn some more points from paying more bills and making my usual purchases in the future.
I finally got the bill from the anesthesia from my surgery and while it came up to $2990, I was only responsible for $212.16 after insurance. I did not have enough in the Health Savings Account right now to cover it so I paid the bill on my rewards credit card and then I will do a reimbursement from the HSA to repay myself at the end of the month. I also received ANOTHER bill from the pathology department at a total cost to me of $54.53, down from $480 before insurance kicked in.
Those two payments have put me at a total of $333.23 spent on medical for the month, which is over my budget of $125, by $208.23. I still have one more doctor’s visit this month so that budget category is not looking good at all and just might eat a very big hole into the surplus of last month’s budget, as well as taking me further into the hole created by April’s budget.
I also spent $31.90 to fill up the gas tank after getting to about one quarter of a tank left from going on a few trips.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
YOu should try Massage Envy if you have them around, it is a bit more than what you have paid but you get an hour long massage every month for 59.00 it is worth it and I love it.
Glad to read about you getting the massage because we totally underestimate how stress can affect our body, especially as it relates to dealing with finances everyday.
I had been getting migraines again recently so I think that was a big part of it. I had a 30 minute massage over the weekend and I feel so much better already…looking forward to the full body massage coming up.
