Welcome to How I Save Money.
Did you know that you can get FREE gift cards if you have insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield? I recently found out about this and so far I have gotten enough credits to get two $5 WalMart gift cards.
Update on September 22, 2008. A reader asked for the link to the site so here it is https://members.hcsc.net/members/mbrsignon_tx.html
Now I just noticed that it says Texas on the page so this might only work for those insured in Texas. Not sure if there is a separate site for each state.
If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield then you are eligible to enroll in their online insurance management program. You can then do things like track your weight or even look at daily eating plans or stress management tips. You get a certain number of Blue Points for each activity you log and when you have 2500 points you can start to redeem for gift cards.
You are only allowed to gain 1000 points per week so it will take 2.5 weeks to get enough points to reach your first redemption goal.
I earn my points by logging how much water I drink and by doing a few simple exercises as well. You can track a number of different things on the site and watch the points roll in.
Check out the Blue Cross Blue Shield website today if that is your insurance provider and see if you can get some free money!
I never knew that with Blue Cross Blue Shield. It’s too bad I had that and my new insurance was switched to Aetna. Do you know if there is a similar plan with Aetna?
Craig
Sorry Craig…I have no idea. Maybe you could check your Aetna website or ask the representative.
I found out about the BCBS a whole year after I had it because I actually took the time to read the info they sent us this time. 🙂
Excellent! I’ll have to check it out!
Best Wishes,

I can’t seem to find this on the BCBS site. Can you provide a link to the program or a clue as to where on the Blue Cross site this program is located? My husband has Blue Cross and they sent us info on a health online program and telephone program but it did not say anything about any incentives(other than the obvious staying healthy). I’d love it if there were incentives for some of the healthy stuff I do routinely.

I just noticed that it says Texas so it might just only work if you are in the state. Sorry.
