I have decided to post my weekly spending for the previous week on Fridays so you know how my cash has been flowing for the week. Please note that I get paid on the last day of the month so my cash flow net effect will usually be negative until the last day of the month.
This does not mean that I am adding to my debt, it just means that the money coming in is less than the money going out because bills are due starting on the first but I don’t get paid until the last day.
So again to clarify (since I get so many questions), this shows the cash FLOW for the month. On Day 2 of every month I will have a negative FLOW because I have paid rent etc so money has LEFT my checking account. I have not had any money come in on Day 2 of the current month since I got paid on day 27 or 30 or 31 of the previous month so that income is counted for LAST month.
Income for the month to date: $163.48
Expenses for the month to date: $1362.75
Net effect: -$1199.27
Since the last posting I made the final payment on my personal loan and this means I no longer owe any creditors. I had planned on starting off January 2011 being completely debt free and I am officially there, although I will be making a declaration in a later post. The food bill for the week came up to $91.60 and I spent $26.43 on home and body products. I paid the cell phone and internet bills for the month for a total of $115.96.
I got refunds of $39.37 for some satin sheets that I had to send back to the store. I had ordered two sets of satin sheets and when I opened the packages one of the fitted sheets was obviously used so I returned it to the store for credit and just decided not to get new ones.
I will see you guys and gals later as I continue my journey to save money and become debt free!!!!
“I paid the cell phone and internet bills for the month for a total of $115.96.”
Huge price! How much is cellular and the Internet in the U.S.? I ask because I’m from Russia. Personally, I pay no more than 10-15 dollars a month for a cell. And $ 15-20 for the internet. Of course, I will not download hundreds of gigabytes of movies and music. I’m also a student. And I’m saving money, just like you.
Cell phone is $65. I have a smart phone with unlimited internet, unlimited calling/text…everything…and it is a family plan that I share with my best friend.
Not a few, of course … Perhaps you have a good internet speed?
We do not have unlimited mobile internet. Cellular operators offer 20 gigabytes for $ 35. Very often, the speed is like dial-up 🙂
Two of the most expensive things in the US: apartment and cell phone charges.. 😀
